Step 1: What’s Your Cosmo? (And No, I Don’t Mean the Martini)
Your Cosmo is your specialty—a big, juicy umbrella that covers everything you’re amazing at. Think of it as the container that holds all your secret sauce, minus the calories.
But here’s the catch: Even generalists have a specialty.
Let’s say you’re a real estate agent. Sure, you’re a jack-of-all-properties, but are you also moonlighting as a commercial zoning expert or a luxury condo developer? Didn’t think so. Your Cosmo might be helping first-time buyers or selling family homes in the suburbs.
Need more examples? If you’re in martial arts, your Cosmo could be teaching kids discipline through karate or training adults in self-defense techniques. Just don’t try to combine a hardcore MMA program with a “zen yoga for mindfulness” offering unless you want to confuse everyone who walks
Here’s the thing: You can have multiple specialties, but they need to play nicely together. Think “coffee and donuts,” not “pastor by day, stripper by night.” (Yep, I went there. You're welcome for that visual.)
Step 2: Break It Down Into 12 Bite-Sized Macros
Now that we’ve got your Cosmo, it’s time to turn it into 12 content pillars—or as I call them, Macros.
Why 12? Because it gives each topic its time in the spotlight, like a monthly feature in a magazine. But instead of “Summer Getaways in July,” it’s “How to Sell Your Home Faster with Better Staging” or “Mastering Self-Defense Basics for Beginners.”
Here’s how this looks in action:
- If your Cosmo is organic social media, your Macros could be TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, content creation tools, lead gen, going viral, engagement strategies, hashtags, captions, and followers.
- If you’re a hairstylist, your Macros might be extensions, balayage, wedding updos, highlights, perms, and so on.
No one’s judging your Macro choices, as long as they fit under your Cosmo. Just remember, this system is like a buffet—you get to pick what works for you.
Step 3: Turn Macros Into 365 Content Prompts (A Year of Ideas, Served on a Silver Platter)
Here’s where the magic happens. Once you’ve got your 12 Macros, it’s time to brainstorm 30 prompts for each one. That gives you 365 daily ideas to post, share, or recycle.
Feeling stuck? Use tools like:
- Answer the Public: Pay for a month and pull every question your audience could ask.
- Google People Also Ask: Expand and collapse the questions like you’re playing accordion with the algorithm.
Example prompts for TikTok:
1.) How to optimize your TikTok bio for business.
2.) 5 tips to make your TikToks go viral.
3.) Is TikTok or Instagram better for marketing? (Spoiler alert: I know who wins.)
Once you’ve got your prompts, randomize them in a Google Sheet (you know, for spice) so you don’t feel stuck talking about one topic for an entire month.
Step 4: The Nerdy Part (AKA Data-Driven Refinement)
Now, here’s where you outsmart the average creator. As you implement this system, keep an eye on what works and what flops harder than the that 90’s show reboot.
Let’s say TikTok tips and going viral crush it, but hashtags make your audience yawn. Ditch the duds next year and double down on what hits.
This system isn’t just a one-and-done. It’s a living, breathing content machine that gets better every time you use it—like a fine wine or a really expensive roomba.
Step 5: Add Some Hooks in your spreadsheet (Because Nobody Likes a Weak Intro)
Now, let’s make those prompts irresistible. You’re not just answering “Is TikTok better than Instagram?” You’re staging a fight night:
- “TikTok vs. Instagram: Who Wins the Social Media Heavyweight Title?”
- “Why TikTok Will Crush Instagram’s ROI Every Day of the Week.”
Hooks are like your opening pickup line. If they don’t stop the scroll, your content doesn’t stand a chance. Next Week I will show you exactly how to create Viral Hooks.
Final Thoughts: From Blank Screen to Content Empire
If this feels like drinking from a firehose, good. It means you’re onto something.
Start by brainstorming your Cosmo (your big umbrella), break it into 12 Macros (your bite-sized themes), and turn those into 365 prompts. Then, add hooks and let your creativity do the rest.
Before you know it, you’ll have a year’s worth of content ideas that’ll make the algorithm bow down in admiration.
Need the templates? Hit reply, and I’ll send them your way. Or don’t. Your choice. But if you’re still stuck staring at a blank screen tomorrow, you’ll know why.
Now, go have a Cosmo and celebrate creating 365 days of content!
Cheers to never running out of ideas,
–Keith
P.S. Remember, even the best Cosmo gets better with time—and maybe a little vodka. Next week we dive into creating hooks.
