The Mobile-First Wake-Up Call
This week, I went down a rabbit hole (don’t ask how deep), and here’s what I found:
1️⃣ Your leads are mostly on mobile. If your landing page isn’t built for mobile-first, you’re handing them to your competition on a silver platter. Mobile users spend 2X more time on responsive websites compared to non-responsive ones (Google).
2️⃣ Desktop designs just don’t cut it anymore. On mobile, they shrink all the text, distort the images, and end up looking as appealing as gas station sushi. Pages that load within 2 seconds see a 9% bounce rate, but if it takes 5 seconds, bounce rates jump to 38% (Google).
3️⃣ PDFs are the new BlackBerrys. Sure, they work, but they’re outdated, hard to read, and nobody wants to scroll endlessly to find what they need.
It’s time to stop being the business equivalent of the guy with a BlackBerry and embrace mobile-first design.
What I Did So You Don’t Have To
The other day, while watching reruns of How I Met Your Mother, I asked ChatGPT for tips on mobile landing pages. And let me tell you—it dropped some serious wisdom bombs:
👉 Portrait Images: These are your “best foot forward.” Place them at the top of your landing page, above the fold.
👉 Dark Overlay + White Text: It’s not just chic; it’s readable and looks amazing on a phone.
👉 One Clear Call-to-Action Button: Keep it simple. Nobody likes decision fatigue.
So, I put these ideas into action and built a landing page that practically begs to be clicked. Picture this: a family photo with a slick overlay and a bright green button that says, “Do This Now.” It’s so simple and effective that I almost bought my own product—I even reached for my credit card.
What This Means for You
Your marketing strategy isn’t broken; it’s just stuck in desktop mode. Here’s how to fix it:
1️⃣ Redesign your landing pages with a mobile-first mentality. Sites optimized for mobile see a 15-20% increase in conversion rates on average (McKinsey).
2️⃣ Replace clunky PDFs with mobile-friendly web pages or Canva-built mobile PDFs.
3️⃣ Test, test, test—on your phone, not your fancy 4K monitor. Remember, 51% of consumers use their mobile devices to discover new brands and products (Meta).
Think of This Like Netflix
Your mobile audience is like someone scrolling through Netflix: if they don’t find what they want in 10 seconds, they’ll just rewatch old episodes of How I Met Your Mother.
If your landing page doesn’t deliver clarity and value immediately, you’re the forgotten indie movie no one wants to stream.
Stop letting your leads ghost you. Reply to this email and tell me which landing page you’re going to redesign first. Better yet, share your before-and-after shots in the Referral Boss Skool group.
Let’s make 2025 the year of mobile-first domination.
Stay sharp,
